ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo investigate the quality of disinfection in the SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid sampling sites in Shanghai. MethodsSwab samples of medical staff’ hands and environments of different SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid sampling sites were collected from July to September 2022, with the total number of bacterial colonies cultured and counted. ResultsA total of 728 swab samples were collected from 69 sampling sites. The median total number of bacterial colonies on hand surface, object surface and air samples were 0 CFU·cm-2, 0 CFU·cm-2, and1 CFU·(petri dish∙5 min)-1, respectively, and P95 was 13 CFU·cm-2, 5.3 CFU·cm-2, and 17.8 CFU·(culture vessel∙5 min)-1, respectively. According to the GB 15982‒2012 Hygienic Standard for Disinfection in Hospitals class Ⅳ environment, 680 samples met the standard (93.4%). Furthermore, 96.9%, 92.0%, and 92.2% of the samples in the sampling sites of tertiary/secondary hospitals, community health centers, and community convenience sampling sites met the standard, respectively. Quality of disinfection did not differ significantly across these sampling sites. ConclusionThe quality of disinfection in the SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid sampling sites in Shanghai is generally good. Additionally, hand hygiene of medical staff and disinfection on object surface in some sampling sites need to be strengthened.

ABSTRACT

With the development of global economy, the dramatically increased production of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastics has led to a remarkably increased amount of plastic waste. PET waste can be treated by landfill, incineration, or biodegradation. While landfilling and incineration may cause secondary pollution, biodegradation has since received increased attentions due to its environmental friendliness. Recent studies have indicated that the carbohydrate binding module (CBM) can effectively enhance the binding of PET degrading enzymes to PET, and consequently increasing PET degradation rate. Here we constructed a fusion protein BaCBM2-Tfuc containing the BaCBM2 from Bacillus anthraci and the cutinase Tfuc from Thermobifida fusca, by megaprimer PCR of whole plasmids (MEGAWHOP). Notabaly, the PET film degradation efficiency (at 60 ℃) of BaCBM2-Tfuc was 2.8 times that of Tfuc. This study may provide technical support for constructing fusion proteins capable of efficiently degrading PET.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To estimate the transmission capacity of influenza clustering in schools and nurseries, and to evaluate the effect of suspension measures, providing a basis for formulating disease management strategies and control measures.@*Methods@#The SEIAR dynamics model was used to simulate the epidemic data, calculating the basic regeneration coefficient R 0 of the epidemic to evaluate the epidemic transmission capacity, and calculating the cumulative incidence rate of the epidemic to evaluate the prevention and control effect of the suspension measures.@*Results@#The basic regeneration coefficient R 0 was 8.44(8.01,8.89) without intervention. There were statistically significant differences in R 0 of influenza epidemic among different types of school(F=9.52, P<0.01). The R 0 of influenza epidemic in primary and secondary schools were higher than that in nurseries(P<0.05). R 0 of influenza A was higher than that of influenza B(t=2.71, P<0.01). R 0 of influenza A(H3) was higher than of influenza B(Victoria)(P<0.05). The cumulative incidence of the outbreaks which were suspended for 4 days and 7 days was significantly lower than that in the non-suspensions(P<0.05). However, there was no significant difference in the cumulative incidence of the outbreaks between the 4-day suspension and the 7-day suspension(P>0.05).@*Conclusion@#Transmission capacity of school-based influenza epidemic is high, especially among primary and secondary schools. When the epidemic situation of infected class meets the suspension standard, it is recommended to suspend classes for 4 days.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the value of GPS score and CEA in predicting the prognosis of pa-tients with colorectal cancer undergoing laparoscopic surgery. Methods 120 patients diagnosed as colorectal can-cer in our hospital were involved and their baseline information include Height, weight, history, complication, course of disease, tumor size, pathological type, tumor location,TNM stage, vascular tumor thrombus and lymph node metastasis were recorded. Then, all of the patients were followed-up 18 months and patients with favorable prognosis were defined as the favorable group while patients with unfavorable prognosis were defined as the unfavor-able group. Cox′s proportional hazard regression model analysis was applied to evaluate the influencing degree of those factors on the prognosis of the subjects. The factors in predicting prognosis were calculated by ROC curves. Results The poor prognosis rate of patients with colorectal cancer after operation treatments was 37.84%. Cox′s proportional hazard regression model analysis showed that CEA(P = 0.035),GPS score(P = 0.023)have influenc-es on the prognosis. Conclusion GPS scores and CEA may assess the prognosis of patients with colorectal cancer undergoing laparoscopic surgery, which is expected to be used as an indicator of predicting the prognosis of pa-tients with colorectal cancer undergoing laparoscopic surgery.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To study the prevalence and correlates of unprotected sexual intercourse within HIV serodiscordant couples in Dehong prefecture, Yunnan Province, China, in 2014.@*Methods@#This study was based on the follow-up investigation of "the AIDS cohort of seronegative spouses of HIV-infected individuals in Dehong prefecture" in 2014. The 1 520 participants were HIV seronegative spouses from all five counties/cities of Dehong prefecture who voluntarily participated in the cohort. Inclusion criteria included: having a HIV-positive spouse; ≥16 years of age; having had sexual intercourse with spouse in the past year; and being a resident of Dehong prefecture. Information on HIV-positive spouses were also collected through the local AIDS epidemic database. Chi square analysis was performed to compare differences in the rates of unprotected sexual intercourse between participants with different characteristics and lifestyle choices. Multivariable logistic regression model analysis was performed to determine correlates with unprotected sexual intercourse.@*Results@#The 1 520 participants had a mean age of 38.7±9.4, compared with 39.7±8.9 for their HIV-positive spouses. Among the HIV-positive spouses, 77.8% (1 183/1 520) had been infected for more than 3 years, and 87.6% (1 332/1 520) had received antiretroviral therapy. The prevalence of unprotected sexual intercourse within serodiscordant couples over the past 12 months was 16.1% (244/1 520). The prevalence of unprotected sexual intercourse correlated with the level of education of HIV-negative spouses (illiterate vs. middle school and above, OR=1.58, P=0.044), the number of years since diagnosis of HIV-positive spouses (short vs. long, OR=1.6, P=0.006), antiretroviral therapy of HIV-positive spouses (no vs. yes, OR=2.78, P<0.001), the frequency of sexual intercourse per month (high vs. low, OR=1.66, P=0.019), and whether the couple had children (no vs. yes, OR=1.72, P=0.007).@*Conclusion@#The prevalence of unprotected sexual intercourse within serodiscordant couples in Dehong prefecture was relatively high in 2014. Factors found to correlate with the occurrence of unprotected sexual intercourse within these couples included illiteracy of HIV-negative spouses, short time since diagnosis of HIV-positive spouses and lack of antiretroviral therapy, high frequency of sexual intercourse and no children.
